Dog sledding in Yakutia

It is Fun, but still extreme and focuses on exploring the region and getting to know the local Yakut population and heir culture and learn how to ride a dog sled. This is something that very few people have experienced before.

1. You will learn the art of controlling the dog sled and everything that comes with that: the care and feeding of huskies, how to saddle and form up your dog pack, etc… You will drive your own dog sled for the duration of this expedition.

2. We will visit the local Yakut museums to learn about their history, traditions, and culture. We will also have the rare chance to observe their Tengriist shamanic traditions, and even to take part in some of them.

3. We will also visit the mammoth graveyards, interact with the indigenous population and live in their houses, sample their exotic cuisine and explore the territory of eternal cold.

Itinerary:

Day 1: You will fly to the city of Irkutsk, we pick you up at the airport and accommodate in a real ethnographic village equipped with everything for your comfort. Local shaman of Sakha people tribe will hold a welcome ceremony and ceremony of good luck. Yakut/ Siberian cuisine dinner will be served. First lesson on theory/ practice of dog sledding skills.

Day 2: We will have 5 hours ( 17 km) to drive our dog sleds to shamanic idols spot to perform the ritual of sacrifice for good luck. On the way back we stop at a unique legendary place called The Kingdom of Permafrost, a huge territory where snow does not melt even in the summer. This outstanding beauty is guarded by shaman, he will perform a colorful  ritual to this sacred spot.

Day 3: Day of active rest, fun and shopping. We will take you to the Capital of Yakutia, the city of Yakutsk. There are many things can surprise you! Yakutia is home to huge diamond deposits and the world’s  larger producer of rough carats. Your heart will beats faster when we visit the museum of precious stones! Then will visit history and mammoth remains museum. We will shop for local goods as well.

Day 4: Our expedition begins and you will drive your own dog sled for 25 km. Fun, Fun, Fun. Will spend a night at the camp.

Day 5: You will drive your own dog sled for 50 km back to our village.

Day 6: We will have long (70 km) and difficult passage through numerous frozen swamps, rivers, lakes. Will work as a team to successfully past this difficult test.

Day 7: Today we will visit the unique ethnographic open-air museum, and then drive 70 km back to the village. Festive dinner will be served.

Day 8: Goodbye day!  Transfer to the airport.  You will forever remember this unique experience and there will be memories throughout your life about the unusual country of permafrost and its hospitable citizens.  Come to us again!
